What Makes BottleRock Different
BottleRock is the festival where the culinary stage rivals the headliners and the wine pours are as long as the beer lines. Three days at the Napa Valley Expo in late May usually means high-70s to 90s afternoons, a lot of standing, and, this being Napa, a lot of excellent wine consumed in the sun. It is a marathon dressed as a party.
Before: Two Days of Prep
Hydration is cumulative. Start drinking extra water two days before the festival, not the morning of. Sleep matters just as much; you will not bank it during the weekend. Book your recovery plan in advance too, whether that is a late checkout, a day-three-morning IV at your hotel, or both, because festival weekend availability tightens for everything in Napa.
During: The Hour-by-Hour Rules
- Alternate every alcoholic drink with a full water; refill stations exist, use them
- Eat real meals from the culinary vendors, not just snacks; protein and salt keep you standing
- Shade breaks every couple of hours; the Expo has limited natural shade
- Sunscreen at the gate and again mid-afternoon
- Close-toed comfortable shoes; you will log miles between stages
Between festival days
A morning drip at your Napa hotel rebuilds fluids, electrolytes, and B-vitamins in about an hour, so day three feels like day one.
Book a Mobile IVAfter: The Recovery Window
The gap between the last set and the next morning, or the Monday drive home, is where the weekend is won or lost. Water plus sleep helps, but after two festival days your gut absorbs fluid slowly. A festival recovery IV at your hotel or rental restores a liter of fluids with electrolytes and B-vitamins in about 45 to 60 minutes, with anti-nausea or anti-inflammatory add-ons when appropriate. We treat BottleRock guests across Napa all weekend, and groups can share one visit.
Beyond BottleRock
The same playbook covers the rest of the wine country event calendar: vineyard concerts at Sonoma amphitheaters, food-and-wine festivals, and harvest season parties. Sun plus wine plus long days is a formula; so is the recovery.
